Safe for Babies and the Environment
As we all know some babies love to suck and put just about everything in to their mouths.
Bobux Eco-leatherTM
was
developed to produce an exceptionally soft nappa that would be totally safe
for babies to put in their mouth, be gentle on baby's delicate newborn skin
and friendly on the environment.
Bobux International Ltd.
was not happy with the traditional methods used to tan leather utilizing heavy
metals, so the Company directed its efforts on research and development in partnership
with a local tanner to produce an environmentally friendly, biodegradable leather
that would have strong appeal to its New Zealand consumers, as well as to its
environmentally aware "green" consumers in Europe and North America.
As far as the Company is
aware, it is the only manufacturer of soft soled leather shoes for babies and
toddlers that meets the following environmental and International safety standards.
- British and European
Safety Standard BS 5665 : EN71 Part 3 (Testing by LASRA NA)
- Japanese Industrial
Safety Standard JIS/L1041 (Testing by LASRA NZ)
- German TUV accreditation
for safety of banned materials and substances used in tanning of leather.(Testing
by TUV Germany)
Criteria for Ecological
leather:
- Chrome(VI) free leather.
- No Azo dyes - banned
under EU directive 2002/61EC.
- No presence of heavy
metals (Tested to DIN EN ISO 105-E04)
- All tanning agents
and dye colors are water based
- International test
confirm no presence of any banned substances.
- All testing has been
carried out independently by accredited testing authorities using internationally
recognized environmental standards.
- The waste water
from our tanning process is treated by in-house waste water treatment plant
so as to achieve a reduction of the COD/BOD* content of over
98.75%. All wast treatment far exceeds the Ecological leather production
requirements and is audited regularly by regulatory authority, Environmental
Waikato, New Zealand.
Bobux Eco-leatherTM
is
bio-degradable and is therefore safe for land fills.
